Objectives

The objectives of the Centre for Irish Studies are to act as a pioneer in raising recognition of and familiarity with the academic studies carried out on Irish literature, culture, art, history and in other similar fields of social sciences; to play a facilitative role in increasing the communication between Irish and Turkish public regarding the aforementioned areas; to bring together the academics who conduct studies in these areas in Turkey and abroad for collaboration by creating a research environment conducive to enlightening, creative, and critical perception; to encourage and take part in collaboration by initiating inter-disciplinary and supra-disciplinary research with colleagues from domestic and international universities, members of relevant centres, and other relevant institutions; to contribute to the information network by organising scientific, artistic and cultural activities, offering training, and by presenting publications about our centre’s area of research in national and international arenas.
